Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine (RMHC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help children live happier, healthier and more productive lives.
As part of this mission, RMHC of Maine reviews requests on a quarterly basis for funding of particular programs or projects in Maine and Eastern New Hampshire through grantmaking. The following is a list of the criteria used to review grant requests.
RMHC grants have the purpose of developing, supporting and encouraging programs in four main areas:
- Ronald McDonald Houses and specially designed rehabilitation facilities and living centers;
- Health care and medical research;
- Special education, recreation and art programs for youth (preschool through college age);
- Civic and social services.
In order to qualify for funding, grant requests must:
- be from an organization designated as not-for-profit and tax-exempt as defined under IRS codes;
- address real problems in a definite manner that directly benefits children, not just study,
- analyze or describe existing situations or proposed solutions;
- demonstrate the ability to respond to the needs of specific groups of children in a manner that yields measurable results;
- provide for consistent management to achieve clear goals and objectives;
- either be designed to be completed within a stated time frame or in the nature of a request for startup funds for a program which will continue without ongoing RMHC support.
RMHC does not fund:
- requests from individuals or for-profit organizations;
- advertising, fundraising drives or endowments;
- partisan, political, lobbying, or denominational programs
- general or administrative costs, ongoing salaries or travel expenses
- requests that are not in writing and within the application guidelines
